James Viscardini founded Torven Marine to provide independent, practical engineering support for superyachts, commercial vessels, shipyards and new-build projects.
With more than 25 years of hands-on experience at sea and ashore, James brings engineering judgement shaped by complex machinery, demanding build programmes and long-term responsibility for vessel operation.

James served as Build Chief Engineer for the construction and delivery of this 54-metre yacht at Mariotti in Genoa, as the only full-time member of the owner's build team continuously assigned to the project. Following delivery, he remained with the vessel as rotational Chief Engineer for approximately ten years, providing long-term operational continuity.

James served as owner-side Chief Engineer through the final build, commissioning, acceptance and delivery of this 80-metre yacht. He subsequently established the engineering operation, planned-maintenance structure and technical records before remaining aboard through the vessel's transition into service.

Commissioning of a marine oily water separator, followed by practical crew training in system operation, routine testing and compliance procedures. The work supported crew familiarisation with the equipment and the checks required under applicable marine pollution prevention regulations.
Investigation of a control-system fault, including identification and rectification of the issue. Following corrective work, the sewage treatment system was commissioned and presented to the owner’s team for acceptance.
Investigation of an operational fault affecting a marine reverse osmosis freshwater production unit. The fault was identified and rectified, and the system was subsequently presented for acceptance.
Technical fault investigation into a steering gear system exhibiting excessive noise, vibration and hunting. The intervention involved assessing abnormal operating behaviour and investigating potential causes to support effective troubleshooting.
